I spoke with a healthcare leader recently who said, “I don’t know how to help grow their confidence.” Confidence is something that can develop over time, like a plant that needs the right environment and nourishment to thrive. Ultimately, you have to believe in yourself before others will believe in you.
Confidence has been a learning journey for me throughout my life. I’ve shared with a few key people over the years that professionally, I have a high level of confidence, it was the personal side where I struggled at times. In my classes, I state, “We are all layered like an onion, we never know what has happened to people in their walk of life. Professional development can peel back the layers to find our true selves.”
To help an employee grow in confidence, leaders should focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where employees feel valued and empowered. This includes providing regular, constructive feedback, celebrating successes, and offering opportunities for professional development.
Leaders should also encourage open communication, actively listen to employee concerns, and normalize mistakes as learning opportunities.
By implementing these strategies, leaders can create a positive and empowering work environment that helps employees grow in confidence and reach their full potential.
Every day is a new beginning. You Got This!
Blessings,
